MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE OAK PARK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD TUESDAY, August 20, 2024, CONDUCTED IN-PERSON AND ELECTRONICALLY.

Call To Order and Roll Call

Call to Order  - 7:01 p.m.

• Recognizing Former River Forest Township Supervisor Carla Sloan 
  • Trustee Onayemi presented a resolution to Carla Sloan for retirement from public service

Discussion Items

• Strategic Planning Phase II & III 
  • Presentation by Manager Michel
    • Looking at an 18 month for completion
    • Took into consideration decennial report
    • will make presentation to the board of the goals and would like board feedback
  • Trustee Onayemi asked a question about focus group 
  • Trustee Trybus says there should be a natural flow to the chart and indicates that what is on the chart seems to be being done by the Township
  • Trustee Davis asks if the operation area should be included or reflected through the focus areas 
    • township manager says he will take into consideration

Megan Traficano [YFS] presentation

• back to school event on August 9th
  • Successfully event with barbers and hair braiders and face painting as well as other activities 
  • should consider a larger space for next year's event
  • thank you to the staff for the assistance with the back-to-school event 

looking into services for the staff to reach out to 3rd party regarding internal complaint

• flu shot event
• met with paylocity regarding on boarding

Township Interim Supervisor

• thank you to the Township staff for all the effort
• attended Oak Park housing quarterly meeting last Tuesday

Liaison Report

Youth and Family Services

• • presentation given  on the back to school event

Senior Services Committee

• • Mtg in October

Community Mental Health Board 

• • Did not meet in August
  • Working with village on substance abuse prevention 

I-GOV

• • last Saturday and had a representative from the Illinois treasurer office 
  • recommend to other government agencies to take advantage of their money market program
  • will host a zoom meeting sometime for new candidates in Oak Park 
  • D97 had three new principals coming in. One at Julian comma 2 with other elementary school.
  • D200 being proactive for any protest related to the Gaza issue
  • park district is working on a comprehensive strategy plan
  • are you doing the work in this month for the Township and volunteered CMHB will be speaking up in next meeting substance abuse prevention
