MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE OAK PARK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD TUESDAY, February 27, 2024, CONDUCTED IN-PERSON AND ELECTRONICALLY.

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

Clerk DaToya Burtin-Cox called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm and the meeting was conducted in-person and electronically. On the call of the roll the following participated in- person: Clerk DaToya Burtin-Cox, Trustee Eric Davis, Trustee Ade Onayemi, Trustee Thomas, Trustee Trybus; Township Supervisor, Clarmarie Keenan, and Township Attorney, John Garofalo, Township Manager E. Michel. Also present virtually, was Director Cheryl Potts, CMHB. 

PUBLIC COMMENTS

No public comment.

APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA

Trustee moved to approve the Township Minutes from February 13, 2024 with corrections and bills for the period of 2/7/24 2/20/24. Trustee seconded the motion which the Board approved unanimously.

DISCUSSION ITEMS

Seguin Reception Invitation

  • Director Potts presented 
    • OP Village, OP Township, CMHB being honored 
    • Date of event in 3/9 
    • Supervisor will send comment to be presented 
    • Trustees Thomas and Trybus will attend
      • Trustee Davis asked to be included 
      • 2 additional seats opened to staff

Attendance at COG meeting

  • Trustee Davis expressed that the Township Supervisor did not attend meeting 
    • Requested that Supervisor inform Trustees if unable to attend meetings/events so that a Trustee can attend to cover 

REPORTS:

MANAGER

    • Held meetings and discussed issues within organization 
    • Developed a work plan for the next 180 days in position 

SUPERVISOR

  • Thank you
  • In communication with Manager

CMHB

    • Meeting held 2/2 
      • Approved budget 
        • 1.5 million for programming 
        • Will provide information to the Board at the next meeting 
    • OP/RF Breakfast on 4/23 
      • Joint meeting of the intellectual/disability consortium 
    • Trustee Davis inquired whether CMHB can provide explanation to the government bodies re: trauma of COVID 
      • Trustee Thomas indicated that some programming already exists 
      • Director Potts encouraged building connections 
    • Committee met 1/30 and 2/1 
    • After conducting site visits committee met and gave recommendations 
      • To vote on recommendations on 2/20 
    • Received 20 applications for grants requesting 1.7 to 1.9 million 
      • 1 new applicant 
    • Trustee Thomas indicated that transportation is an issue 
      • Requested that OPT come up with a way to track requests for transportation 

SENIOR SERVICES

    • Meeting held last week 
    • Follow-up discussions re: intergenerational mural 
    • 4/1[10 am – 11:15 am] – Legislative breakfast at WSSS in Bellwood 
    • 3/3 @ 3 pm– OPRFHS presentation of Mean Girls
      • Free matinee for seniors with a 2 pm reception
        • Supervisor request that OP Communication Coordinator publicize
    • Trustee Davis requested that Senior Service Committee function be re- evaluated
      • Questioned whether the best use of the committee was solely as a sounding board for the Director 
        • Trustee Trybus that the committee was previously responsible for Celebrate Seniors event 
        • Trustee Thomas asked whether the committee could assist with programming 

YOUTH AND FAMILY SERVICES

No meeting.

I-GOV

    • Meeting set 2/9
    • 1.8 million dollar grant received by the Village
      • 75% to be distributed to local nonprofits
        • Nonprofits TBD
    • Village operating temporary shelter through June
      • YMCA/Carlton housing to end 2/29
    • At March meeting committee will discuss solicitation positions on advisory committee 
      • Interested in establishing an I-Gov website 
    • Library working on Percy Julian Museum 
    • OP Park District 
      • setting up a tax efficiency task force 
      • working on Field Park restoration design competition 
        • Ade Onayemi is the Chair
    • Village meetings moved to Tuesdays 

ADJOURNMENT

Trustee motioned to adjourn at 7:52 pm; Trustee seconded the motion which passed unanimously. 

NEXT MEETING

The next public meeting of the Oak Park Township Board of Trustees will be a Regular Board of Trustees Meeting conducted in-person and/or electronically at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 7 pm at the Township Office located at 105 S. Oak Park, Ave, Oak Park, IL.
