MINUTES OF THE GENERAL BOARD MEETING OF THE OAK PARK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD TUESDAY, August 22 2023, CONDUCTED IN-PERSON and ELECTRONICALLY.

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

Clerk DaToya Burtin-Cox called the meeting to order at 7:12 p.m. and the meeting was conducted in-person and electronically. On the call of the roll the following participated: in-person: Trustee Margaret Trybus, Trustee Ade Onayemi, Trustee Tim Thomas, Trustee Eric Davis; Interim Township Manager(s), Pamela Mahn and Megan Traficano, Township Supervisor, Clarmarie Keenan, Clerk, DaToya Burtin-Cox, and Township Attorney, John Garofalo.  Also in attendance virtually, Cheryl Potts, CMHB Director.

APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA

Trustee Davis moved to approve the Township Minutes from July 25, 2023, and Bills for the period 7/19/23 through 8/15/23 Trustee Onayemi seconded the motionBoard Trustee approved with the consent agenda.

Identify fraud of $34000 check caught by positive pay established at the Byline Bank

Bank notified of the “washed check”

Filed report with police and postal service

Advised against using postal box

Suggested that OPT set up direct deposit for bill payment

Suggest fraud presentation for Senior Services 

Director Mahn suggested providing information about Money Management Program 

Committee Member Approval 

Received applications for Youth and Family Services Committee 

Suggest approval of: 

Tracey Templin [Former CPS teacher; study social work; 2 children in D97; Good with Budget]

Debra Taylor also suggested to the YFS committee.

Received application for Senior Services Committee

Suggest approval of:

Jean Peterman

Trust Onayemi motioned to approve Templin and Taylor to the YFS Committee and Peterman to the SS Committee. Trustee Davis seconded the motion. The Board voted unanimously to approve.

Suspicious Item

Bomb threat at library on Sunday resulting in closure on Monday

Mahn/Traficano reported unidentified, abandoned container in Senior Services parking lot on Monday morning

Interim Managers have requested meeting with Oak Park Police Deputy Chief Dave Jacobson

SUPERVISOR REPORT

Posting

Trustee Trybus expressed concern about the Manager posting duties section

Supervisor Keenan indicated that the posting is fine the way it is

Supervisor Keenan suggested to Gov Hr the need for the hiring process to move

Supervisor suggest need to enhance communication with the bank

Request that communication within the office be uniform

1st Decennial Committee meeting went well.

CMHB (Trustee Thomas)

Scheduled programs at CRC

Youth program

Greater Community

Monthly Walk and Talk with senior services

New Task Force regarding homeless encampments

Working with CTA/ Metra/ Fire Department

Solidified 15 units of housing to be made available to those with mental illness

Director Potts indicated that they are still structuring program

Back to School event on 8/11 was a success

Approx 260 backpacks given out to youth

YFS and Senior Services to participate in OPRFHS Civics Fair

Trustee Trybus moved to adjourn at 8:36 pm; Trustee Thomas seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

The next public meeting of the Oak Park Township Board of Trustees will be a Regular Board of Trustees Meeting conducted in-person and/or electronically at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 7 pm at the Township Office locate at 105 S. Oak Park, Ave, Oak Park, IL.
