Oak Park Township Announces New Branding Initiative and Outreach

The Oak Park Township Board of Trustees is announcing the launch of a new logo and new branding messages effective June 13th, 2022, to better align with the Township’s identity and role in the community.  As the need for our supportive services has grown, we have adapted many of our programs, and our new branding strategy is reflective of our goal to expand our public education and outreach regarding the services we provide the community and residents.

Starting in January 2020 we evaluated what the Township represents to the community, conducting surveys with residents, social services agencies, and Township staff.  In addition, we collaborated with Nancy Morris of N2 Studios and Jim Bernard Design.  The result was the creation of key messages, a new brand visual, and a fresh set of materials that better reflect our core purpose, values, and services.

Township Supervisor Clarmarie Keenan commented on the Township’s branding initiative, “We are excited to share our results with the community. The discoveries we made throughout this process led us to a newly defined core purpose, which is to strengthen our community through programs that support the health and well-being of all Oak Park residents. The foundation of our new brand visual and messaging stems from this core purpose and those characteristics we found consistent throughout each of our service areas, including a sense of community, diversity, connection, and pathways.”

To continue our improved public education and communication efforts, the Township is in the process of a website redesign scheduled to launch later in 2022. In addition, we are increasing our participation in community outreach events.

The general public can get a sneak peak of the new logo and materials at the 2022 Day In Our Village on Sunday, June 5th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Scoville Park at Lake Street and Oak Park Avenue.

History and Growth of Oak Park Township
At Oak Park Township’s inception in 1902, our initial mission was to provide food, shelter, and emergency relief to enable individuals to become self-sufficient.  We also managed the assessment of properties and offered property tax advice to residents.  Over the years, Oak Park Township, along with many of the 1,428 Townships across Illinois, expanded to serve a diverse population including older adults, persons with disabilities, and youth.  We have formed community agreements to serve residents in River Forest.  Our network of partners also increased and enabled us to become a comprehensive source of information for anyone seeking social and supportive services.

About Oak Park Township
Oak Park Township provides government assistance through social services that help improve the well-being of residents at all ages and stages of life. We offer supportive services for seniors, youth, and people with disabilities, along with programs that address the unique challenges of mental health, substance abuse, unemployment and more. In addition, we serve as the community property tax advocate in helping residents understand their property assessments and how they may realize tax savings through appeals or exemptions.
