Youth Services Hygiene Closet Open for Donations

Oak Park Township Youth Services staff and the Oak Park and River Forest Youth Services Committee are coordinating a collection of personal care products to distribute free-of-charge to youth in the community who request items.  Orders of new products may be placed through Amazon at this wishlist link and they will be directly shipped to Oak Park Township at 105 S. Oak Park Avenue. New regular-sized or travel-sized toothpaste, shampoo, sanitary products, and deodorant are a few categories of items that will be collected.   Here is an expanded list:

 

  • Deodorant- men and women
  • Socks-youth, men, and women’s sizes
  • Shampoo-youth, men, and women
  • Conditioner
  • Bars of Soap
  • Body Wash
  • Wash Cloths or loofas (must be brand new and have tags on)
  • Q-Tips
  • Toothbrushes-youth and adult sizes
  • Toothpaste
  • Face Wash
  • Lotion-body or face lotion
  • Vaseline
  • Body Wipes
  • Sanitary napkins
  • Tampons
  • Nail Clippers
  • Emery Boards
  • Dental Floss
  • Hair Brushes and combs (must be brand new and have the tags on)
  • Razors-men and women
  • Shaving cream – men and women

 

 

Oak Park Township Youth Services staff often encounter young people in the community who are unable to afford or travel to purchase personal care products.  All questions about the Hygiene Closet may be sent to mgale@oak parktownship.org.

The Youth Services staff are trained in social work, trauma, and social justice.  Each person brings unique style and experience to the team that enables them to work with many different youth concerns.
