MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE OAK PARK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD ELECTRONICALLY TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2021
CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
Supervisor Keenan called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. On the call of the roll the following participated: Supervisor Clarmarie Keenan, Trustees Ade Onayemi, Eric Davis, Margaret Trybus, Michele Mbekeani and Clerk Gregory White. Township Manager Gavin Morgan and Attorney John Garofalo were also present.
APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA
Trustee Davis moved to approve the Minutes of the January 12, 2021 Regular Board of Trustees Meeting and Township bills for the period January 6 to February 2, 2021 Trustee Onayemi seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
PRESENTATION OF COMMUNNITY SURVEY RESULTS
Manager Morgan and Communications Specialist Wendy Senger introduced Nancy Morris to the Board. Ms. Morris explained the procedures utilized in conducting a recent survey of community residents and partners regarding perceptions of the Township. She then reported the responses along with her findings and recommendations for improved communications and familiarity of the Township and its services. Board discussion of the results followed, along with the timeline and next steps in the project. A copy of the survey and responses is available for inspection on the Township website.
DISCUSSION OF EMPLOYEE VISION/DENTAL BENEFITS
Manager Morgan shared a memorandum with Board members outlining proposed benefits and costs of dental and vision insurance coverage for full-time employees, who had requested coverage as part of their benefits package. Board members were supportive of the concept and directed Mr. Morgan to prepare a proposal explaining specific coverage and costs, for consideration at the next Board Meeting.
TOWNSHIP MANAGER’S REPORT
Manager Morgan reported that the Oak Park Health Department is offering the COVID 19 vaccine to area seniors, as part of the phase 1B program. The Township has set up a direct phone line for seniors to register for the vaccine, assisting those who do not have internet access or need assistance with online registration. A large volume of calls have been received with inquiries about registration procedures and vaccine information.
SUPERVISOR’S REPORT
Supervisor Keenan was one of the facilitators of the recent IGOV Forum for first-time candidates seeking local elected offices.
CLERK’S REPORT
Clerk White reported that the Official Certificate of Ballot for the April 6,2021 Township Election has been filed with the Cook County Clerk. Local citizens with questions on their voter registration status or election information should access the County Clerk’s website at cookcountyclerk.com. The Township Hall will again serve as a polling place for the April 6 Election. Early voting will be available at Village Hall beginning March 22.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Oak Park Township Board of Trustees will be a Regular Board of Trustees Meeting, conducted electronically, at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
