MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE OAK PARK TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES HELD TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2020, ELECTRONICALLY CONDUCTED

 

CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL

Clerk White called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. and the meeting was conducted electronically. On the call of the roll the following participated: Trustees Margaret Trybus, Ade Onayemi, and Eric Davis. Township Manager Gavin Morgan, Attorney John Garofalo, Senior Services Director Pamela Mahn, Youth Services Director Megan Traficano and Prevention Services Manager Kelly O'Connor also participated in the meeting. Trustee Michelle Mbekeani and Supervisor Clarmarie Keenan were absent.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Trustee Onayemi moved to approve the Minutes of the September 8, 2020 Regular Board of Trustees Meeting. Trustee Trybus seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

APPOVAL OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT FOR CORONAVIRUS RELIEF FUNDS

Manager Morgan shared copies of a proposed agreement with Cook County which would provide approximately $38,000 to Oak Park Township for services and materials to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the community. Board members discussed the proposal and expressed approval for the valuable assistance it would provide to local citizens.

Trustee Mbekeani joined the meeting electronically at 7:36 p.m.

After discussion, Trustee Trybus moved to approve the INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH COOK COUNTY FOR CORONAVIRUS RELIEF FUNDS. Trustee Onayemi seconded the motion which passed unanimously, except for Trustee Davis, who abstained.

Trustees Trybus and Mbekeani exited the meeting at 7:50 p.m.

 

DISCUSSION OF 2020 TAX LEVY

Manager Morgan shared study sheets with Board members on projected revenues, expenditures and fund balances for the Town, General Assistance, and Community Mental Health Funds to assist in preparation for the 2020 annual tax levies. The sheets also contained three options for levy growth for the Board's consideration. More information will be presented at the next Board meeting.

 

BRIEF REPORTS

Manager Morgan reported on interim assistance from Oak Park Township G.A. to assist River Forest clients. General Assistance Administrator April Dugal was also nominated for a TOI Award for her job performance. The Cook County Board of Review is reopening the tax appeal process, but notification has not yet been given to local residents. A prescription take-back day will be held in the Township parking lot on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. until noon.

Clerk White reported on community preparation and activities for the upcoming General Election in November, and the Township's assistance to voters and local civic groups.

Recent highlights and topics with Youth Services and Senior Services were shared by the respective directors.

 

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Oak Park Township Board of Trustees will be a Regular Board of Trustees Meeting conducted electronically among Board members at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020.

Trustee Davis moved to adjourn at 8:16 p.m. Trustee Onayemi seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
