Township Updates for July 28, 2020
Oak Park Township Updates - Effective July 28, 2020
Plans for Gradual Reopening to the Public
Oak Park Township has been open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and has shifted most of our in-person services to telephone appointments, online individual appointments and group online meetings. We continue to offer nutrition services for older adults with home delivery and drive-through meal pick-up. Transportation to dialysis or medical appointments is also available. Limited services, like notarizing documents, are being done in our parking lot, with social distancing guidelines in place.
We continue to monitor developments of COVID-19 and are developing and implementing internal preparedness plans to provide for continued assistance to residents in the community during this unprecedented time. We are making physical adjustments to our offices in preparation for gradually opening to the public by appointment; please monitor our website and Facebook page for updates.
Call the Administrative offices at 708-383-8005, Senior Services Center at 708-383-8060, Youth Services at 708-445-2727 or the Community Mental Health Board at 708-358-8855 for assistance. Since the state entered Phase 4, our staff is continuing to follow the guidance of the Village of Oak Park Public Health Department as well as state and federal officials to ensure the health and safety of staff, volunteers and clients.
Home Delivered Meals and “Take Out” Meal Distribution
Older adults who have requested meals are receiving them every other week in the form of shelf stable and frozen nutritionally balanced meals. We are also providing “take out” lunches to older adults who are able to pick them up at our Senior Services building. With the help of staff and pre-screened volunteers, we are limiting face-to-face contact with others out of health concerns for everyone. During August, meal distribution will be August 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th. For detailed current schedules and guidelines, please see our Senior Services webpage at https://oakparktownship.org/senior-services/ or call 708-383-8060.
COVID-19 Community Resource Guide
The Community Mental Health Board (CMHB) of Oak Park Township has created a resource guide available at this link: bit.ly/oprfguide. It lists social service agencies and organizations throughout the area accessible or via phone and text. The organizations listed are accepting clients and providing resources to all residents during this time. This guide is intended to be used for informational purposes only and does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement to any particular group or service. This guide does not constitute legal or health advice and is subject to change without notice. The CMHB may be reached at 708-358-8855.
Second Installment Tax Bills Are Due August 3rd But May Be Paid Without Penalty by October 1st
Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar issued a press release explaining that the second installment property tax bills for tax year 2019 are due August 3rd, but taxpayers can pay them as late as October 1 without having to pay any interest or late fees. This adjustment was due to the financial hardship caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
