Township Updates for March 27, 2020
Effective March 27, 2020
Oak Park Township Continues to Serve Residents
The Oak Park Township Board is appreciative of all the support and help provided by the community. We are also fortunate to have a staff that is dedicated to providing professional supportive services to those in need on a year-round basis. It is because of their day-to-day professionalism and preparedness that they are able to step up in a situation like this to provide the comfort and service that people in the community need.
Like all of us, the staff of Oak Park Township is following local, state and federal guidance regarding COVID-19 and is taking shelter in place directives seriously. Out of concern for those we serve and our team, we are working to limit face to face contact as much as possible.
Most staff is now working off-site, and the limited staff that is on site is taking the recommended cautions for social distancing, hand washing, etc. Group activities are postponed. Despite these measures and as much as possible, our dedicated staff is continuing to serve the community with as little disruption as possible, just as they do on a daily basis.
Administrative staff, the Assessor’s Office, and General Assistance staff are providing information, assistance and referrals over the phone. Youth Services and Senior Services are in contact with the individuals and families with which they work, and are offering assistance to our community partners.
Senior Services is maintaining contact with regular clients, and participants in other programming. Senior Services Transportation continues to be available for medical trips. Senior Services Nutrition is providing quantities of frozen and shelf-stable meals for seniors to last for multiple days.
The Assessor’s Office continues to provide assistance over the phone with appeals, with additional staff working from home to submit a large number of appeals to the Cook County Assessor. The County’s deadline has been extended indefinitely.
The Community Mental Health Board has created a resource guide available at this link: bit.ly/oprfguide. It lists many agencies and organizations offering health and wellness services throughout the area or via phone and text.
