Township Updates for March 23, 2020

Due to the State of Illinois' Order to Shelter in Place, we continue adapting procedures to safely serve residents.  Oak Park Township staff continue to provide essential services; meals, transportation to medical appointments, tele-appointments and well-being checks for Youth Services, Senior Services, and General Assistance clients.

The Township is developing a service to assist older adults with pick-ups of grocery and other items.  We are very grateful for the many volunteers who have already joined us and we'll be seeking additional volunteers. Prescreening of volunteers will ensure everyone's safety.

The Cook County Assessor's office has suspended appeal deadlines and assessment notice mailings until further notice.  The original deadline of April 7th has been extended to a date unknown.  We encourage homeowners who would like assistance appealing their property taxes to call 708-383-8005; phone appointments are being set up Monday through Saturday.

For public health and safety, we are encouraging members of the public to stay home and shelter in place, per the order of the Village.  For those that must come in for services from the Township, we are asking them to reach out before coming in.  Please call ahead weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.:

Senior Services - 708-383-8060
Youth Services - 708-622-8535 (updated phone #)
Administrative Services, Assessor Services - 708-383-8005
Community Mental Health Board - 708-358-8855

The Township is also supporting our social services partners in the community, both directly and in a coordinating role.  We will reassess throughout this week and going forward, as situations and the necessary responses change.  Thank you for your support.
