Current Volunteer Openings:

Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Volunteer
Oak Park Township Senior Services seeks new and trained volunteers to serve as an advocate with the Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP).  Volunteer SHIP Counselors objectively counsel people who have problems and questions with Medicare, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Managed Care, and Long Term Care Insurance.

Interested parties must be computer literate with the ability to navigate the internet, assist with Medicare supplemental health insurance claims filing; complete a client contact report and record SHIP activities online; provide health insurance counseling without conflict of interest; and attend educational programs and meetings.  Some light file keeping and data processing is also required.  Must be willing to contribute 8-10 hours per month counseling SHIP clients.

New volunteers are required to satisfactorily complete the initial SHIP training session.

For more information, contact Christine Brooks at Oak Park Township Senior Services at (708) 383-8060 or cbrooks@oakparktownship.org.
