2013 TAX APPEAL PERIOD OPENS FOR OAK PARK

The Cook County Assessor’s office has announced that it will be accepting appeals of the assessed valuations of Oak Park properties between March 5 and April 5, 2013. According to Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar, this appeal period is the first of two opportunities Oak Park residents will have to appeal their assessments in 2013.

First Installment tax bills are due March 1

First installment property tax bills for tax year 2012 arrived in the last week of January, according to Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar. “Property taxes are paid in two installments,” ElSaffar said. “The first installment bill is fifty-five percent (55%) of the total property tax bill for the previous year, and will be due on March 1.”

Senior Property Tax Exemptions Deadline Extended

Senior Citizens Seeking Tax Relief Can Defer up to $5000 per year

Senior citizens struggling with property taxes can defer payment of their property taxes until their homes or condominiums are sold. Click here for further details.    

New Township Building to receive Historic Preservation Award

The Oak Park Historic Commission informed the Township that our new Senior Services building located at 130 S Oak Park Ave will receive with the 2012 Historic Preservation Award on November 13.  The architect, Frank Heitzman and the contractors, Construction Solutions will also receive an award.  For more information click here.    

NAMI Award for Youth Services Director

Congratulations to John Williams, Youth Services Director, for winning the NAMI Illinois 2012 Heroes Award. He will receive the award under the category of Education/ Katie Petray Excellence in Education along side Tom Johnson, for Co-facilitating the Illinois Crisis Intervention Team Training Program.  All 2012 NAMI Heroes will be awarded at a luncheon on Saturday, October 20.  For more information click here.

The Community Mental Health Board Is Seeking Help

The Community Mental Health Board of Oak Park Township is seeking minority residents 18yrs or older, of Oak Park to share their opinions about improving counseling and substance abuse treatment services in the community.  This workshop will be Thursday, September 27 at Oak Park Township Senior Services 130 S Oak Park Ave from 12:30-2:30pm.  This is a free event- Your opinion matters to us!  Refreshments will be provided.  To RSVP or for more information click here for call Vanessa a
