A guy who failed Statistics 101 might summarize the changes in this year's property tax bills by saying that tax increases were modest for the average Oak Park taxpayer.  After all, Oak Park property owners as a group experienced tax increases of just 1.6% this year.  But averages can be deceptive, as was the case for the man "with one foot in the oven and one foot in an ice bucket." Based on the average temperature, the poor man should be perfectly comfortable!

Free Summer Lunch for Youth Ends August 14th, 2015

Sponsored by the West Cook YMCA, the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry, Wild About Wellness and No Kid Hungry, a free summer lunch program for youth aged 18 and younger begins June 15th, 2015 and ends Friday, August 15th, 2015.

Lunch will be served from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the West Cook YMCA, 255 S. Marion Street in Oak Park.

Annual Township Meeting Held April 14th, 2015



The Oak Park Township held its annual meeting on Tuesday, April 14th.  The agenda included a presentation of financial statements as well as the Fiscal Year 2015 Township Year in Review.  An overview of accomplishments from each department as well as measurable goals and highlights were also presented.  The detailed reports are available below:

One Time Only "Sunset Exemption" Forms Mailed

Oak Park home and condominium owners with 2013 household income of $30,000 or less are eligible for the Sunset Exemption, which, for one year only, could reduce their property taxes. Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar estimates that the savings from this one time exemption will be about $600. Application forms were mailed out the first week of March, and must be returned by April 1.

Township is Accepting Committee Applications

Oak Park Township is accepting applications from residents for three-year terms of service on the Youth Services and the Senior Services advisory committees. The Youth Services Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month and advises the township board on the funding of local agencies that sponsor programs for youth, especially youth who are at risk of involvement in harmful or illegal activities. The Senior Services Committee meets quarterly and monitors and makes recommendations about services and programs for senior citizens.

Biennial Municipal Election is April 7th, 2015

2015 Biennial Municipal Election

The deadline to register for the 2015 Biennial Municipal Election is Tuesday, March 10th. Voter registration for residents who have changed addresses or new residents is available at the Oak Park Township from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday as well as Village Hall, 123 Madison St. and the main branch of the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake St.
