Oak Park Assessed Values Increase by 24%

 

On March 1, Oak Park property owners began receiving reassessment notices from the Cook County Assessor’s office reflecting the Assessor’s estimate of Oak Park property values as of January 1, 2017.  The median Oak Park assessed value for residential properties increased by about 24%. 

 

Township Seeks Applicants for Youth Services Advisory Committee

Oak Park Township is seeking residents interested in serving on the Youth Services advisory committee. Applications are available at http://oakparktownship.org/committees, at the Township office, 105 S. Oak Park Ave., and by mail by calling 708.383.8005. The deadline to apply is Friday, April 21.

IMPACT Launches New Website For Youth, Parents and Professionals

IMPACT, the grassroots collaboration of schools, social service agencies and community services, unveiled their new website in February 2017.  The goal of IMPACT is to increase awareness of teen drug and alcohol use and provide resources to youth, parents and professionals to combat substance abuse among children and teens in the Oak Park/River Forest area.

1st Installment 2016 Tax Bills Due March 1st 2017

FIRST INSTALLMENT TAX BILLS ARE DUE MARCH 1

First installment property tax bills for tax year 2016 arrived in the last week of January, according to Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar. “Property taxes are paid in two installments,” ElSaffar said.  “The first installment bill is fifty-five percent (55%) of a property's total tax bill for the previous year, and will be due on March 1, 2017.”

Oak Park residents sixty-five years of age or older should receive renewal forms for  senior citizen property tax exemptions this week, and will have until February 8 to file them.  Local seniors should feel free to call the office of Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar for help completing the forms.

Senior Services Building Serves as Warming Center

Oak Park Warming Centers Open

There are warming centers located throughout Oak Park during the cold winter months.  Residents are encouraged to avoid the potential for suffering from frigid temperatures.  In particular, the elderly are susceptible to the extreme cold; it is suggested that time spent outside be limited and strenuous activity be avoided.  Oak Park has free local warming centers with varying hours:
