On March 1, Oak Park property owners began receiving reassessment notices from the Cook County Assessor’s office reflecting the Assessor’s estimate of Oak Park property values as of January 1, 2017. The median Oak Park assessed value for residential properties increased by about 24%.

IMPACT, the grassroots collaboration of schools, social service agencies and community services, unveiled their new website in February 2017. The goal of IMPACT is to increase awareness of teen drug and alcohol use and provide resources to youth, parents and professionals to combat substance abuse among children and teens in the Oak Park/River Forest area.
First installment property tax bills for tax year 2016 arrived in the last week of January, according to Oak Park Township Assessor Ali ElSaffar. “Property taxes are paid in two installments,” ElSaffar said. “The first installment bill is fifty-five percent (55%) of a property's total tax bill for the previous year, and will be due on March 1, 2017.”
